“Inverrary is the kind of course which hews to my basic philosophy of golf course architecture… Every hole should be a hard par and an easy bogey.” – Robert T. Jones, Sr. Designed and built by Robert T. Jones, Sr. in 1970, Inverrary Country Club is a true classic American golf experience. Set amongst the majestic cypress and ficus trees of Lauderhill, Florida, Inverrary’s two championship courses offer a challenge to players of all abilities. The East Course, measuring 7,112 yards from the Championship tees, hosted 15 PGA and LPGA Championships between 1972 and 1992. From 1972 through 1983, the East Course played host to the Jackie Gleason Inverrary Classic, The Honda Classic, as well as the Player’s Championship in 1976. The list of past champions speaks volumes for the challenge that the East Course provides. Jack Nicklaus (’76, ’77, ’78), Johnny Miller (’80, ’83), Lee Trevino (’73), Tom Kite (’81), and Beth Daniel have all claimed titles on the East Course at Inverrary. The East Course is characterized by large, well-bunkered green complexes, generous driving areas, and challenging par threes. Water comes in to play on only 6 of the 18 holes on the East Course. A premium is placed on the approach shots into the greens and controlling the speed of your putts on the large, contoured greens. Four sets of tees enable players of all abilities to enjoy this classic course. The West Course, at 6,675 yards from the Championship tees, offers challenges of its own. Although shorter in total yardage, the West Course has a higher course rating and slope than the East Course. A premium is placed on accuracy off the tee, and the small, undulating greens require a deft touch. With five par fives and five par threes, the West Course forces a player to use every club in their bag.
