Reavie Wins Canadian Open

Chez Reavie has captured his first PGA Tour victory by winning the 2008 RBC Canadian Open. Reavie had a trying week at Glen Abbey and was rewarded with a victory when he shot a 1-under 70 in his final round on Sunday. He finished three shots up on Billy Mayfair and four up on Steve Marino and Sean O’Hair. Mike Weir was never able to really contend for the lead on the last day after his putter let him down when he missed two birdie putts from inside six feet. He finished with a 69 and in a tie for fifth. Weir’s finish did earn him the Rivernead Cup as he was the low Canadian finisher for the event.

Reavie had the momentum all week. He has now added two big tournaments over the next two weeks – the WGC Bridgestone Invitational and the PGA Championship. With his win, Reavie also takes home a cheque that is worth more than his combined earnings since turning pro four years ago. “How much? $900,000? That’s unbelievable, really. Yeah, wow. That’s all I can say is wow to that.” said Reavie.
